What are the 75% Criteria for JEE Main 2025?
According to the 75% criteria, students seeking admission to IITs and NITs through JEE exam must have secured at least 75% marks in class 12th examination in all subjects irrespective of the JEE Main rank. The rule was applicable for JEE Main 2024 also.

The candidate must meet the following eligibility criteria to be eligible for JEE Main 2025:
- There is no age limit for candidates. Candidates who passed class XII/equivalent exams in 2023, and 2024, or appearing in 2025, regardless of age, can take the JEE (Main) – 2025 test.
- Candidates passed/appearing for Class XII from NIOS should select the State of Eligibility according to the State in which the study Centre is located.
- Candidates who completed the Class XII (or equivalent) examination outside India or from a Board not indicated above must provide a certificate from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) indicating that their examination is equivalent to the Class XII Examination.
- A Diploma recognized by AICTE or a State board of technical education of at least 3
years duration.
- Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects.

Revised Exam Pattern
NTA has also made some major amendments to JEE Main 2025. These are as follows:
- Removal of Optional Questions: There will be no more optional questions in Section B of Paper 1. This portion will have five questions, which test takers must answer all of. This regulation also applies to Papers 2A and 2B, where the Mathematics section will have no optional problems.
- Structure of papers: Paper 1 (B.E./B.Tech.): This paper will have 75 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and 300 marks. Paper 2A (B.Arch.): This paper will feature 77 questions and 400 marks. Paper 2B (B.Plan.): This paper will consist of 100 multiple-choice questions with a total score of 400.
- Exam Mode: The JEE Main exam will be conducted online. However, the drawing part in Paper 2A (for B.Arch.) will remain offline.
- Language: JEE Main 2025 will be available in 13 languages, including Gujarati, Assamese, Tamil, Bengali, English, Kannada, Punjabi, Malayalam, Urdu, Marathi, Odia, Telugu, and Hindi.
Revised Tie-Breaking Policy
- Removal of Age Factor: Age is no longer a criterion for tie-breaking between two candidates who scored the same marks.
- New Criteria for Tie-Breaking: As per the new tie-breaking policy the following criteria will be considered.
Maths Score: The higher maths score is given a higher rank.
Physics Score: If the tie persists, a higher score is considered.
Chemistry Score: If the tie remains unresolved, a higher score is considered.
Incorrect to correct Ratio: The lower ratio is ranked higher.
If the tie persists, the same rank will be allotted to both candidates.
Change in Official Website
Last year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) switched from the old domain to the new one, jeemain.nta.ac.in. However, for JEE Main 2025, the agency has restored its previous website, jeemain.nta.nic.in.
