What is NEET UG 2025 Counselling?

The NEET UG counselling is a process where candidates who have passed the NEET exam will get a seat in the top medical colleges nationwide. Two authorities, MCC and the State Counselling Authorities, conduct the counselling for the All India and state quotas.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts counselling for 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats in government medical and dental colleges, as well as all seats in Central Universities (such as BHU and AMU), Deemed Universities, AFMC, ESIC, AIIMS and JIPMER institutions throughout India.

State Counselling Authorities: The remaining 85% state quota seats in government and private medical and dental institutes under their jurisdiction are counselled by the respective state government authorities.

Steps for NEET Counselling 2025

Step 1: Wait for NEET UG 2025 Result

The NEET exam result will be announced soon by the NTA. The officials will declare the result on their official website with marks obtained and category-wise ranking. Students should check their marks and rank to find out their eligibility for NEET UG Counselling.

Step 2: Eligibility for NEET UG Counselling

The general criteria for NEET eligibility are as follows:

• Qualifying for the NEET 2025 exam by achieving the minimal qualifying percentage.
• Meeting the age criteria set by the government.
• Having passed the Class XII or equivalent exam with the required subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology) and a minimum percentage.
• Domicile requirements for state quota seats (where applicable).
• The eligibility criteria will be stated in the formal counselling notification issued by the MCC and state authorities.

Step 3: How to register for NEET UG Counselling 2025

The first step to register for the NEET counselling is to fill out the online registration form issued by MCC for the 15% All India Quota Seats. The fee of ₹ 1000 is non-refundable,  to be paid while registering for the NEET Counselling process. The details required for the registration include roll number, registration number, date of birth, etc.

Step 4: Choice Filling and Locking

The next step is to fill out the choices and lock the preferences available for the candidates’ rank and category. Candidates should pick the college and course carefully, as it is one of the crucial steps in the NEET UG counselling process. 

Step 5: Seat Allocation

MCC will allot a seat and college as per your preference and rank. The seat allocation varies for each category and rank. The candidates can check the seat allocation on the official website of the NTA or MCC.

Step 6: Reporting to the College and Document Verification
