JEE Main 2025: Overview
JEE Main paper is conducted twice a year: session 1 in January 2025 and session 2 in April 2025. The exam is subdivided into two papers: Paper 1 is for engineering students and Paper 2 is for architecture and planning students. JEE Main 2025: Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the JEE Main 2025 application the candidate must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
- Must have passed class 12th in 2023 or 2024 from a recognised board.
- Appearing for class 12th board examination in 2025 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as core subjects.
- A three-year diploma holder is also eligible to apply.
- The joint service wing of the National Defense Academy is eligible if they have completed a two-year course.
- There is no upper age limit for application.
- For Paper (1), the candidates must have Physics and Maths in Class 12.
- For Paper (2A), the candidates must have Physics, Chemistry, and Maths in Class 12.
- For Paper (2B), the candidates must have maths in class 12.
How to Register for JEE Main 2025
The step-by-step instructions to register for the JEE Main 2025 examination are given below:
Step 1: Registration
The candidate must visit the official website of NTA’s JEE and register themselves by clicking on the “New Registration” button. Read the instructions and provide details such as name, email address, date of birth, present address, permanent address, etc.
Once you complete the registration an application number will be generated. Please note the application number for future reference.
Step 2: Filling out the application form
Once the registration process is completed, the candidate can log in to their account using the application number and password to fill out the application form. While filling out the application form, you can choose the category, language, and city. You can choose up to four cities. Fill in all the other necessary details as per the instructions and save the application.
Step 3: Upload Documents
The next step is to upload the documents in scanned format. The documents required for application are a passport-size photograph, signature, category certificate and PwD certificate (if applicable). Save and continue to the next step.
Step 4: Fee Payment
The next step is to pay online fees through net banking, debit card, credit card or UPI as per the category or application.
Step 5: Print the Confirmation Page
Once you submit the fees, you will be directed to the confirmation page. Print out the confirmation page for future reference.
How to Check JEE Application Status?
Once you fill out the online application form you can check the status of your application by visiting the official website of JEE and clicking on the “registered candidate login.” Log in to your account using the application number and password, you can see the status of your application in the next window.

Common Problems in Filling JEE Main 2025 Application Form and Solution

- Uploading the scanned documents
This is the most common problem that most of the candidates encounter. The main reason for this is the improper size of the scanned documents. Resize your documents using the online tools. Check the size and format of the images before uploading and use the appropriate size.
- Unable to Pay Online Fees
Sometimes the internet of your computer does not work properly or provides less speed due to uninterrupted supply. In this case, the payment gateway might show some issues. It is recommended to come back again after some time when the net is working properly to pay online fees.
In some cases, the fee is deducted from the account but the application status shows the amount pending. In such a situation, candidates are advised to wait for at least 24 hours until the status changes. If the status says the fee is pending, pay the amount. Your previous deducted amount will be refunded in 3-4 working days.
