JEE Advanced 2025 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates fulfilling the following eligibility criteria can apply for the JEE Advanced 2025 exam.
All the candidates must simultaneously fulfil each one of the following five criteria to appear for JEE (Advanced) 2025:
Criteria #1: Performance in JEE (Main) 2025:
Candidates should be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (including all categories) in B.E./B.Tech. paper of JEE (Main) 2025.
Criteria #2: Age Limit
Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 2000. A five-year age relaxation is provided to the candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories.
Criteria #3: Number of Attempts
A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in two consecutive years.
Criteria #4: Appearance in Class XII or Equivalent Exam
A candidate should have appeared for the Class XII (or equivalent) examination for the first time in either 2024 or 2025 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects. However, candidates who passed class 12th in 2023 or earlier are not eligible for the IIT JEE Advanced 2025 exam.
Criteria #5: Earlier admission at IITs:
Candidates should not have been admitted to an IIT under any academic program stated in the JoSAA Business Rules of 2024, regardless of whether they persisted in the program or accepted an IIT seat through “online” or “reporting centres” in the past. Candidates whose admission to IITs was cancelled after enrolling are ineligible for JEE (Advanced) 2025.

Eligibility Criteria for Foreign Nationals
Foreign national candidates must meet a different set of JEE Advanced 2025 qualification standards. Candidates who are not Indian citizens or whose parents are not from India are considered foreign nationals. Candidates who do not meet the OCI/PIO criteria are classified as foreign nationals.
According to the decision (dated February 3, 2023) of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (Civil) 891 / 2021, OCI/PIO candidates who obtained their OCI/PIO cards before March 4, 2021, will be deemed Indian nationals for admission to IITs.
These candidates must compete in the B.E./B.Tech. Paper of JEE (Main) 2025 and qualify for JEE Advanced 2025.
Organizing IIT provides the following instructions for overseas applicants who plan to take the JEE Advanced 2025:
Criteria #1: Reservations:
According to Government of India criteria, foreign nationals are not entitled to reservations in any category.
Criteria #2: Educational Qualification:
Foreign nationals applying for JEE Advanced 2025 must have finished their 10+2 level schooling.
Criteria #3: International Students in India:
International students studying in India can sit the JEE Advanced test in the OPEN category if they have passed their class 12th board exams with the required percentage.
Criteria #4: Parental identity:
Foreign nationals must present the identity of both of their parents.
Criteria #5: Seat Allocation:
Approximately 10% of the available seats in the JEE Advanced program are earmarked for overseas applicants.

How to Register for JEE Advanced 2025
IIT Kanpur will open the JEE Advanced 2025 application and registration process after the JEE Main Session 2 result declaration. The successful candidates can visit the official website to register and fill out the application form by following the steps discussed below:
Registration process:
- Visit the official JEE Advanced website jeeadv.ac.in.
- Enter the JEE Main 2025 roll number, password, and security pin to register.
- Fill in personal details Such as name, parents’ names, contact info, address, etc.
- Choose preferred exam cities (you can choose up to eight centres).
- Scan and upload a passport-size photo and signature.
- Verify and submit the application form.

JEE Advanced 2025 Exam Pattern
The JEE Advanced 2025 exam will have two papers having questions based on physics, Chemistry, & Mathematics. Both papers are compulsory. The exam will be a computer-based test in English & Hindi languages only.
- The questions will be a mix of Multiple-choice questions (MCQs), numerical answer type (NAT) questions, and matching-type questions.
- There will be a total of 108 questions. 54 questions in each paper.
- Three marks will be awarded for each correct MCQ and one mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer. While for NAT & Matching questions three marks will be awarded for each correct answer and no marks will be deducted for incorrect answers.
- The total mark for the JEE Advanced exam is 306. 183 for each paper and 61 for each subject.
