JEE Advanced 2025: Eligibility Criteria
A qualifying exam, minimum marks, and other conditions are part of the JEE Advanced Examination admissions process for IITs. Candidates will be disqualified if they do not meet the JEE Advanced 2025 qualifying conditions. It should be noted that JEE Advanced 2025 would only admit applicants who have completed JEE Main. Before submitting their application, all applicants should carefully check the JEE Advanced 2025 eligibility criteria to determine whether they are eligible for admission. Candidates must meet all JEE Advanced eligibility conditions, including age, number of attempts, qualifying exam scores, and other criteria.
JEE Advanced Eligibility for Indian Citizens
To be eligible for the JEE Advanced exam, an individual must meet the following criteria:
- JEE Mains Score: Candidates should be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates, including all categories in B.E./B.Tech. Paper I of JEE (Main) 2025.
- Age Limit: Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 2000. Five years of age relaxation is given to SC, ST, and PwD candidates. The candidates belonging to these categories should have been born on or after October 1, 1995.
- Number of Attempts: A candidate can attempt JEE (Advanced) a maximum of two times in two consecutive years.
- Appearance in Class 12th Exam: The candidates appearing in Class 12th in 2024 and 2025, for the first time in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, are eligible for the examination. The candidates who passed class 12th in 2023 or earlier are not eligible for the application.
- Admission to IITs: An applicant should not have been admitted to an IIT through any academic program indicated in the JoSAA Business Rules of 2024, regardless of whether the individual persisted in the program or accepted an IIT seat by reporting “online” or at a “reporting centre” in the past. Candidates whose admission to IITs was cancelled (for whatever reason) after enrolling in any IIT are likewise unable to take the JEE (Advanced) 2025 exam.
JEE Advanced Eligibility for Foreign Students
Foreign nationals must comply with another set of eligibility criteria. Candidates who are not Indian citizens or whose parents are not from India are regarded as foreign nationals. Candidates who do not fall under the OCI/PIO criteria are counted as foreign nationals. As per the decision (dated February 03, 2023) passed by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (Civil) 891 / 2021, OCI/PIO candidates who have secured OCI/PIO cards before 04.03.2021 shall be considered Indian nationals for admission to IITs. These Candidates MUST appear in the B.E./B.Tech. Paper of JEE (Main) 2025 and qualify to be eligible for JEE Advanced 202.
- No Reservations: According to the Government of India criteria, foreign nationals are not entitled to reservations in any category.
- Educational Qualification: Foreign nationals applying for JEE Advanced 2025 must have finished their 10+2 level schooling.
- International Students in India: International students studying in India can sit for the JEE Advanced test in the OPEN category if they have passed their class 12th board exams with the required percentage.
- Parental identity: Foreign nationals must present the identity of both of their parents.
- Seat Allocation: Approximately 10% of the available seats in the JEE Advanced program are earmarked for overseas applicants.
JEE Advanced 2025 Cut-Off Marks
JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) will announce the JEE Advanced 2025 cut-off along with the JEE Advanced 2025 results. All applicants who meet the qualifying cut-off will be included in the common rank list. To qualify for the exam, a candidate must meet the qualifying cut-off in each of the three subjects as well as the aggregate.
Every year, IITs announce the JEE Advanced cut-off in the form of open or closed ranks. The JEE Advanced cut-off is the minimum score required in the JEE Advanced to be considered for admission to an IIT. If an applicant scores more than the JEE Advanced Cutoff, they would be considered for IIT counselling. The JEE Cut-off Marks are different for each category.
